Golf Tourney Recap

Our 1st Annual Utetailgaters.com Golf Tournament was quite the success! We managed to field 6 teams for a total of 24 players with two ladies in the field as well (we need more next year!). Play format was a 4-man scramble with awards handed out for Men's/Ladies Long Drive & Closest to the Hole contests.

The teams:

Team 1: Bart & Melissa Brisko, Heath Davis, & Clint Jorgenson.

Team 2: Rob & Angel Christensen, Billy Fowler, & Steve Mathis.

Team 3: Nick Clark, Pat Hvolka, Sam Turpin, & Greg Lahue.

Team 4: Brock Blackner, Blake Thomas, Chad Nestman, & Chris Argyle.

Team 5: Landon Clark, Randy McCracken, Joe Kulgren, & Dave Milroy.

Team 6: Bryan Tippetts, Robert Leeper, Cody Malmrose, & Sam Smith.

After a gorgeous sunny afternoon of play, teams were congregating on the 18th green to welcome those just finishing up. Turns out, the winning team posted an impressive -11 (60) under par to take tournament first place. That team was Team 5 (L.Clark, R.McCracken, J. Kulgren, & D. Milroy). Second place saw a tie with Team 3 & Team 4 posting -7 (64). Third Place saw Team 6 with a score of -4 (67). Fourth Place was posted by Team 2 with a score of -2 (69) and Fifth Place rounded out with Team 1 and their score of +2 (73).

The Men's/Ladies Long Drive/Closest to the Hole contests were held with the Long Drive on Hole #13 (both Men's/Ladies) and the Closest to the Hole on #2. The Men's Long Drive winner was Joe Kulgren (Team 5) with an estimated 325 yd drive. Chris Argyle stepped up just before Team 5 and with his patented "gorilla swing" proceeded to knock his nearly 320 yards but as Chris was moving the marker, Joe K. quietly rolled his past Argyle's to take the win. The Ladies was won by Angel Christensen ( Team 2) with a drive of 85 yards. The Closest to the Hole (men's) was won by Landon Clark (Team 5) who put his tee shot about 10 feet to the right of the pin. The ladies' was won by Angel Christensen (Team 2) who managed to roll her drive up near the fringe to sweep both Ladies contests on the day.

Many thanks to all those who participated and we hope everyone had a great time. We look forward to hosting another tournament next year so pass the word! Thanks again!
