Golf Tourney Recap

Our 4th Annual Utetailgaters.com Golf Tournament was a huge success!  Thanks to everyone who participated!  We managed to field 10 teams for a total of 40 players (we need more next year!).  Play format was a 4-man scramble with awards handed out for Men's Long Drive & Closest to the Hole!

The teams:

Team 1: Cody Malmrose, Brad Arbon, Matt Cunningham, ? (-5)

Team 2: Brock Blackner, Blake Thomas, Dustin Delight, & Frank Canfield (E)

Team 3: Dave Oakley, Dustin Bybee, Jeff Miller, & Curtis Miller (-11)

Team 4: Bryan Tippetts, Chris Killian, & Stan Geniusz (-13)

Team 5: Nick Clark, Greg Lahue, & Matt McAfee (-5)

Team 6: Nate Friedman, Russ Black, Shawn Hanes, Kurt (+5)

Team 7: Joe Borgenicht, David Goldsmith, Chris Hansen, Jim Smith (-7)

Team 8: Dale Allen, Mat Allen, Matt Larsen, Nick Powell (E)

Team 9: Landon Clark, Chris Argyle, Dave Milroy, Randy McCracken (-10)

Team 10: Rob Christensen, Chad Nestman, Sam Smith, Randy Winn (-5)

Turns out, the winning team posted an impressive -13 (58) under par to take tournament first place.  That team was Team 4 (Bryan Tippetts, Chris Killian & Stan Geniusz).  Second place saw Team 3 (Dave Oakley, Dustin Bybee, Jeff Miller, & Curtis Miller) posting -11 (60).  Third place belonged to two-time champs Team 9 (Landon Clark, Chris Argyle, Dave Milroy, and Randy McCracken) at -10 (61).

The Men's Long Drive/Closest to the Hole contests were held with the Long Drive on Hole #13 and the Closest to the Hole on #2.  The Long Drive winner was Greg Lahue (Team 5) with an estimated 360 yd drive.  The Closest to the Hole was won by Dave Oakley (Team 3) who put his tee shot within 8 feet of the pin.

We would like to especially thank Joe Borgenicht (of www.ruletwentyone.com) & Landon Clark for providing the 'Utetailgaters' golf ball cleaning towels that were handed out to everyone!  Many thanks to all those who participated and we hope everyone had a great time.  We are looking forward to next year's tournament (end of May/first of June) where we are looking at possibly having it catered so that we can have a meal after wrapping up a day of golf.  Spread the word as we can always use more teams!  We have some terrific prizes lined up for next year's tournament
