Air Force Falcons - 23

Utah Utes - 30

Trip/Game Notes

Our second road trip of this year brought us to Colorado Springs for the annual grudge match with the Falcons of Air Force Academy.  Those who made the trip: Matt Short, Landon Clark, Jake/Daisie/Sadie/Samantha Hunsaker, Bryan Tippetts, and Andre Miller.  We arrived into Denver Friday afternoon and took in a Rockies (MLB) game complete with fireworks afterwards.  We got into Colorado Springs early Saturday and found a great Mexican spot (Jose Muldoon's) downtown for lunch and caught some early NCAA football games on their TV's.  The Falcons came into the game 2nd in the nation in total rushing per game (358) and the Utes forced them into a 3 and out to start the game.  The Utes defense was so dominate early that they also forced a safety for 2 pts.  The Utes struggled offensively throughout the first half with turnovers killing most of their drives.  One fumble proved very costly as it was returned for a Falcons TD.  The Utes went into halftime down 16-9.  Luckily the Utes knew that to get back into the game they had to take the opening drive of the second half and get points.  They did so with ease on a Darrell Mack TD run.  However, the Falcons didn't quit.  They forced a tie game late in the game and the Utes used very timely runs by Mack and RB-Matt Asiata to run down the clock.  The Utes took a 30-23 lead with just under 1 minute remaining, while S-Terrell Cole sealed the game with an INT.  The Utes head into their matchup with Weber State 4-0 on the year!

One highlight from the trip was seeing former Ute basketball All-American Andre Miller in attendance cheering in the Utah section.  Afterwards, we "ran" into Andre once again and he was nice enough to grant us a group photo (see below) - THANKS DRE!
