TAILGATER BIOS

Welcome to our TAILGATER BIOS page.  Here you will find individual bios on each and every tailgater "regular".  Browse through each bio and get acquainted with your fellow tailgater!  New rule:  You must have attended at least one tailgate (why not attend them all?) in order to gain a bio blurb.  We don't just hand these out free - we know it might seem like it but you must earn 'em!

City: Sugarhouse

Employment: Cottonwood Hospital (Physical Therapy)

Family: Erin (wife), Annie (2 yr), Elliott (6 mos).

Favorite Current Ute: Travis LaTendresse (#88-WR)

Favorite Ute Moment: Yergensen's 55 yd FG in 1993 @ BYU

Landon is currently a season ticket holder in Section E36-Row 43.  Landon was born a Ute fan since he and his brother Nick have been attending games since they were very little.  Landon lived for 3 years in Rochester, MN while Erin was finishing residency at the Mayo Clinic.  He is an avid golfer especially since he just purchased custom length clubs which suit his 6'4" frame.  You can be sure to find Lan every Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market - chatting it up with the "Salsa King".

Landon Clark

("Lan","Don")

City: Sugarhouse

Employment: University of Utah Hospital

Family: Landon (husband), Annie (2 yr), Elliott (6 mos)

Favorite Current Ute: No idea...but she sure loves seeing the Don in his white smedium Alex Smith jersey (“it shows off his perky pecs”).

Favorite Ute Moment: Still searching…probably Annie’s hat she knitted during the Oregon game last year.

Erin can often be found enjoying the tailgate and going home to watch half of the game on television (maybe).   Looks forward to years of enjoying football with the family she has married into.

Erin (Shaw) Clark

("Erie")

City: Sugarhouse

Employment: Her father has been overheard claiming she has many offers overseas as a baby diaper model.

Family: Landon (father), Erin (mother), Elliott (brother)

Favorite Current Ute: LaTendresse because he usually comes up with the big catch and she can relate easier with the unathletic slow wide receiver.

Favorite Ute Moment: Sleeping through Ute gymnastic meets so far.

Annie will be lucky enough to be at the tailgate lot six hours before the game.  Often times she will not be able to attend the game because it is past her bedtime.   She is really looking forward to eating grass and donning her Utah cheerleading uniform.

Annie Clark

City: Salt Lake City

Employment: Commerce CRG

Family: His better half, wife Joni Petrogeorge Clark, Jason Michael (6 mos).

Favorite Current Ute: Anybody who runs like Marty Johnson

Favorite Ute Moment: Fiesta Bowl 04 (from what I remember of it).

Self proclaimed drinker of the group.  Often seen drinking such high quality beverages as Coors Light, Natural Light, Busch Light and/or Pabst Blue Ribbon.  I am in the small percentage of people whose athletic ability increases the more I drink.  Just as a side note I am Landon’s larger younger brother.

Nick Clark

("Nicky")

City: Salt Lake City

Employment: Morgan Stanley Bank

Family: Nick Clark’s better half, Jason Michael (6 mos).

Favorite Current Ute: None, still trying to understand how football is played?

Favorite Ute Moment: UNLV Game 2001, in Las Vegas.

The first time Joni traveled to a game outside of Utah was against UNLV in Vegas.  During the game she almost started a fight with the opposing fans in the UNLV student section while sticking up for all Utah fans and the state.  A strong willed women..she is also know as the “Mad Greek”.

Joni Petrogeorge Clark

City: North Salt Lake

Employment: Dyno Nobel

Family: Bonnie (wife), Landon, Nick, Jazzie (his favorite current relative besides Annie.)

Favorite Current Ute: Bill Marcroft and any other radio personality that drowns out the incessant bitching of the people (ummmm Bonnie cough, cough) in his section.

Favorite Ute Moment: 2005 Fiesta Bowl

Mike will often be seen, in the best seats in the stadium, sitting down.  Occasionally, he will be seen standing but only when he cannot see over the people in front of him.  His head phones are always in drowning out the negativity from his wife, who sits next to him.

Mike Clark

City: North Salt Lake

Employment: Dyno Nobel

Family: Mike (husband), Landon, Nick, Annie, Elliott, Jason (grandkids).

Favorite Current Ute: Brian Johnson (QB-#3) and any other Ute not named Kaneshiro.

Favorite Ute Moment: 2005 Fiesta Bowl

Bonnie is often seen with four layers of clothing on starting in late September until the end of the season.  She is mostly known for her Jake like predictions of the Utes always getting beat, starting with the first play from scrimmage and continuing well into the game regardless of the score.

City: Farmington

Employment: Workers Compensation Fund of Utah

Family: Allison (wife), Averi (2), Lily (newborn)

Favorite Current Ute: Quinton Ganther (RB-#13)

Favorite Ute Moment: KR Chris Yergensen kicking the football right into my arms in the north end zone (at least it felt like it came right to me).  2005 undefeated season and Fiesta Bowl!

Brad has been a rabid Ute fan since being very young.  BJ is best known for taking former Koog Lenny Gomes to task with his "gas pump" comment.  The following season, BJ was able to get his hands on an authentic gas pump courtesy of Slim Olsen's.  It's been in attendance every BYU/U game since.  Also, following this past year's game, BJ painted a giant "U" in his front lawn see here.

Brad Short

("BJ, Dog, B")

City: Farmington

Employment: Full-time mother

Family: Brad (husband), Averi (2), Lily (newborn)

Favorite Current Ute: My husband - Brad.

Favorite Ute Moment: 2005 Fiesta Bowl.

When Allie has time off from being a mother, she can found teaching dance weekly at a local dance studio along with fellow tailgater, Angel Christensen.  With a second daughter expected this August, Brad can expect plenty of future drill team competitions in his future...not that there is anything wrong that?!

Allison (Creer) Short

("Ali")

City: Farmington

Employment: Eating/sleeping.

Family: Brad (father), Allison (mother), Lily (newborn sister).

Favorite Current Ute: Mom & Dad.

Favorite Ute Moment: 2005 Fiesta Bowl

Averi could perhaps be the shyest member of the group.  In fact, she's been known to run at the sight of her own uncle, Eric.  In her downtime, she can be found (with the help of Mom) dressing her Daddy up as a princess!

Averi Short

City: Fruit Heights

Employment: Young Electric Sign Company

Family: Angela (wife), Lauren (6), Jake (3), Brad (28)

Favorite Current Ute: Eric Weddle (DB-#32)

Favorite Ute Moment: Keith Van Horn's Buzzer Beaters in Vegas!

Along with brothers Brad/Eric, and their father Bob, Matt can be found taunting the Rice family (which so happens to sit in front of them during games).  Matt's most proud moment was appearing on the annual radio 1280 The Zone Utah/BYU Smack-Off Finals in the fall of 2003.  Because Gordon Monson is a Y homer, the voting fell the Y's way but we'll never forget his run of smack to Y fans - Rome would be proud..."Rack him!".

Matt Short

("Dog-brother, Millhouse")

City: Farmington

Employment: Datamark

Family: Matt, BJ, (brothers), Lacey (sister), Bob (Dog-father)

Favorite Current Ute: Brian Hernandez (WR-#16)

Favorite Ute Moment: Yergy's 55 yarder!

ATTENTION: Any single ladies out there looking to meet a genuinely nice guy, here's a guy you should meet.

Eric is currently working in advertising as an Account Manager. He's been the most devoted tailgater of the Short family so far, arriving as early as 3 hours before kickoff on occasions.  Eric is still single...and now has 5 career HR (4 this year!) for The Den softball team (we're also wondering if he's "juiced"??).

Eric Short

("E")

City: Farmington

Employment:

Family: Matt, Brad, Eric (sons), Lacey (daughter)

Favorite Current Ute:

Favorite Ute Moment:

Bob is the father of fellow tailgaters, Brad (Allie), Matt (Angela), and Eric.  He has guided many a trip to Lake Powell for many of us tailgaters.  By far, the most loyal fan (in addition to the Davis') to the softball team (The Den) which many of us play on.  Bob has been a longtime Ute Crimson Club member and is currently a season ticket holder in Sec. 12.

Employment: LDS Hospital

Family: Rob (husband), Britton (3 yrs), Cooper (3 mos)

Favorite Current Ute: Steve Fifita (#94-DT)

Favorite Ute Moment: 2005 Fiesta Bowl

If there is anyone truly worthy of their given name then Angel is it.  Not only for having to put up with Rob but the rest of us goof offs.  Angel currently teaches dance at a local dance studio with fellow tailgater, Allison Short.  Angel is currently a season ticket holder with us in Sec.36 Row 43!  Glad to have you aboard!

Angel (Barlow) Christensen

("Ang")

City: Woods Cross

Employment: Bouncin' in his "jumper".

Family: Rob (father...we think), Angel (mother..for sure), Cooper (brother).

Favorite Current Ute: Mommy

Favorite Ute Moment: I heard about the Ute cheerleader layin' the lumber to that Y student a few years ago.

Since Britton is a Momma's boy, he's being raised a UTE!  Good thing Brit gets most of his looks from his mother otherwise he wouldn't stand a chance.  Recently, Britton was timed at a lightning 6.8 in the 40 (guess we know Rob REALLY is the father).  It's reported that Brit looks much better in RED than a "darker shade of royal blue".

Britton Christensen

("Brit, B")

City: North Salt Lake

Employment: Mountain America Credit Union

Family: Nicole (wife), Sophie (3 yrs), Anthony Jr

Favorite Current Ute: Quinton Ganther (RB-#13)

Favorite Ute Moment: Steve Fifita’s 4 yard TD run against BYU (2004, Utes win 52-21)

Tony and family just recently moved into a new home in the NSL area.  Tony has been a "lifer" with U athletics and has contributed thankfully to our tailgates.  Especially with his canopies - they were much needed during the Blizzard of 2004 (BYU/Utah).  You can usually find Tony debating with Jake about who's leg scar is better.  He also just became a season ticket holder in the west stands.

Tony Milne

("MilnE")

City: North Salt Lake

Employment: ER Nurse (University of Utah)

Family: Tony (husband), Sophie (3 yrs), Anthony Jr

Favorite Current Ute: I like any Ute that scores!

Favorite Ute Moment: When Utah (B-Ball) ended the Y’s home winning streak.  It is always nice to win in Provo.

Nicole went to BYU right out of High-school.  She was never a cougar at heart though. One day she decided she didn’t want to attend the Y so she left class, repented, then withdrew herself. Nicole is happiest wearing RED!.

Nicole Milne

("Nic")

City: In her parent's arms most of the time.

Employment: Eats, sleeps, poops, smiles, and giggles

Family: Tony (dad), Nicole (mom), Anthony Jr (brother)

Favorite Current Ute: She doesn't care, she just enjoys spending time with Mom & Dad.

Favorite Ute Moment: The 2005 Fiesta Bowl.  She could hear her dad and mom yelling at the TV while still in the womb.

Sophie Milne

City: Kansas City

Employment: Cerner Corp.

Family: Daisie (wife), twins Sadie/Samantha (4 mos)

Favorite Current Ute: Eric Weddle (FS-#32)

Favorite Ute Moment: 1993 BYU/Utah (34-31)

Jake quite possibly is the most vocal Ute fan of anyone.  He often can be found berating officials from our 43rd row seats.  Jake is the proud owner of both an Alex Smith #11 AND Andrew Bogut #4 jerseys.  Jake was recently married (6/9) and has plans to move to KC at the end of October?!  Jake has calmed down considerably and we're positive his blood pressure has dropped to a safe level since meeting Daisie.  One of Jake's favorite pastimes is visiting the Cheesecake Factory in Vegas followed quickly by the "steak dance".  Jake was lucky enough to have sat next to the starting QB (Brian Johnson) at a Utes basketball game last winter, however Jake left without having said one word to the man?!

Jake Hunsaker

("Nuck, Snuck, Snake")

City: Kansas City

Employment: Cheesecake Factory

Family: Jake (husband), twins Sadie/Samantha (4 mos).

Favorite Current Ute: Jake the Snake

Favorite Ute Moment: When Jake took her to her first

Utah basketball game (Utah/LSU).

Daisie has taken to being a Ute fan with flying colors.  Not only does Daisie share Jake's disappointment with the poor officiating within the MWC, but she looks great in a Ute thong.

City: Kaysville

Employment: Island View RTC

Family: Andrea (wife), Jada Rose (18 mos), Tahoe, Wasatch

Favorite Current Ute: Brian Johnson (QB-#3)

Favorite Ute Moment: Cougar Stadium 93, 55 yard Yergensen field goal, unbeknownst to them Mark and Troy embrace for their last football moment together.

Of any of us there quite possibly isn't anyone who can measure up to the dedication to Ute sports than Chili.  He currently has plans drawn up for a Ute themed movie room in their house complete with a Rice-Eccles Stadium mural on the walls.  His most prized possession other than his wife quite possibly is his Utah helmet autographed with the entire 2004 Ute football team!  Troy has been a season ticket holder in E36-Row 43 for the last 4 years running.

Favorite Ute Moment: 2005 season and Fiesta Bowl!

Andrea hails from the state of Oregon.  In fact, Troy and Andrea's first date was a Utah game (Utah vs USU) and the rest is history.  Andrea has adopted the Utes as her team and looks forward to continuing following them to future bowl games!

Andrea Chilton

City: Kaysville

Employment: www.ourjadarose.org

Family: Troy (father), Andrea (mother)

Favorite Current Ute: Brett Ratliff (QB-#15)

Favorite Ute Moment: She was at the "Miracle in Provo" but by far and away her favorite moment was saying goodbye to her dad, mom, grandma's, grandpa's, aunts, and uncles in the waiting room as she went in for her first surgery...they were all dressed in their Ute game day attire...because our Utes win the big games!!!

Jada is the newest member to the Ute Tailgater family. Jada Rose was named after her Grandmother who also is a die hard Ute. Jada Rose was born with some physical trials but shows her Ute strength day in and day out. Being a Ute has helped Jada more than anyone would have guessed. When she was diagnosed with biliary atresia and the odds of her success were given to her family, her dad and mom would remind each other that no one believed the Utes would beat BYU or Georgia Tech. No one that is except the Utes themselves.  Jada's family learned that if you believe in yourself and have no other expectations other than eminent victory, even the most doubted underdog can prevail. When others hear of Jada's condition and start to tell her family of the tough road ahead of them, her family simply replies "Yeah, well this little girl is one tough Ute, and she doesn't know how to quit...just like our UTES." GO UTES! and Go Jada Rose!

Favorite Current Ute: Brian Johnson (QB-#3)

Favorite Ute Moment: Utes slipping an ever so sharp dagger into the Arizona kitty cats "PAC 10" hearts at the 94 Freedom Bowl in the last few seconds of the game.

Teya along with brother Troy, sister Loni, and mother Rose are all life-long Ute fans.  At last count they have traveled to 4 Ute bowl games (Freedom Bowl, Copper Bowl, Vegas Bowl,  Fiesta Bowl).  Should anyone need waterskiing lessons?  Teya's your girl, she learned to waterski before she could walk?!

Loni was pretty much born a Ute fan.  You see she hasn't really known anything else but Ute sports thanks to her older brother, Troy.  She even made the trip to Tucson, AZ for the Utah vs Arizona game in 2002!  There quite possibly isn't anyone else who can get you a high fade like Loni can!

Favorite Current Ute: Not to sure...but excited to watch Brian Johnson this season. I have big hopes for Brice McCain.  Am really hoping that he'll turn a lot of heads and continue the tradition of strong DB's.

Favorite Ute Moment: There are so many...Playing pass interception with T.D. and Steve Smith, going to San Diego on the plane with the team, sitting on the bench in AZ with the team...but the greatest would be ALL the times we beat BYU! (I freakin' hate BYU!)

Zak Peterson

City: West Bountiful

Favorite Current Ute: Does Cody count?!?

Favorite Ute Moment: It would've been the Fiesta Bowl but my dad said I wouldn't have a good time and for sure I wouldn't have anything to talk about on the drive down, so I stayed home with Julius.

Should anyone be in the market for a new/used car, Chris is your man.  Chris just recently completed a bachelor's dream backyard complete with a half-court basketball court!  Og is a huge fan of crosswords and can be found daily at lunch time at one of the many Crown Burgers locations, enjoying a burger & fries over the daily USA Today Crossword.

Favorite Current Ute: Let's see...Weddle I think?

Favorite Ute Moment: Finally graduating and walking off the campus for the last time.

If he's not working (which is fairly common), he's usually found at a local golf driving range where he's likely to have discovered a breakthrough with his golf swing.  There is really no one else who quite possibly comes close to driving a golf ball further than Chad.  We're still waiting on him to kick that 50 yard field goal...

Favorite Current Ute: Aaron Roderick, WR's Coach. (Arbon's boy and former BYU Cougar.)

Favorite Ute Moment: Andre Miller going head to head down in the pit with Royce Olney.

Dexter is your man should you need help with moving anything from a mattress to your piano.  You see Cody possess 19 1/2 inch arms (which allow for a natural throwing motion when it comes to tossing a football or softball).  He is easily found at Xcel fitness in WX between the hours of 4pm and 8pm eyeing the 19-22 year old females.

Hardy is now married, sorry ladies.  He is currently an assistant coach with Olympus HS boys basketball during the bball season.  In the off-season from bball, he can be found at his home golf course (Bountiful Ridge) perfecting that 1 handicap of his nearly everyday.  Berry currently holds a 2-0 lead in mini golf tourney's this summer.  He's been going head-to-head with Cody and according to Berry, "Buck's folded up like a cheap suit both times with the championship on the line".  He also needs to work on tanning his feet - they currently glow in the dark...

Mike is another Raider fan who has traveled to Raiders/Broncos games in Denver within the last few years.  He's been a dedicated tailgater arriving at tailgates as early as anyone.  He even made the tailgating trip down south last season (2004) to cheer Notre Dame against BYU.  Chid loves the Utes and loves even more to make erroneous predictions about BYU and Notre Dame.

Favorite Ute Moment: Well as awesome as the Fiesta Bowl was there is just something about shutting out those bastards down south 3-0 in "03" that just brings a smile to my face.

Blake has been one of the most dedicated tailgaters as of late, which is terrific to see.  He comes early and in Ute gear which puts him ahead of at least 50% of the crowd here so far.  He may be our only real "insider" to the Ute football team since he his close friends with a current player on the team.

Tip has almost single handedly taken charge of this group of misfits and transformed it into the premier tailgating group along the Wasatch Front.  Along the way he has become a die hard Ute (unless they are playing his beloved Arizona Wildcats “Bear Down Arizona”.)  With the help of Landon Clark, Tippetts has made this his baby and transformed the tailgate into less of a BBQ and more of an event. In fact he's gone so far as to abstain from participating in “normal” Friday night activities (dating) for the greater good of the tailgate (by his own free will of course).  Instead of dating you'll find Tippetts at home Friday nights lathering up some ribs or marinating brats.  When not working on matters related to tailgating you can find him at the Pad working on his first novel “The Pad: Devils Den or Bachelor’s Paradise?”

Chris is a U alumni (1997) and life-long fan of Ute athletics.  He just became a season ticket holder this season.  When not working to perfect his Solitaire score at work, he can be found mastering the game of golf.  Chris is not one to shy away from a bet/wager on the course - you see he's a 1 handicapper...BEWARE!

Employment: Insurance somewhere

Family: Becky, Max (5 mos), and two big ass dogs

Favorite Current Ute: Ratliff because he witnessed Tip running a route for him with a helmet on.

Favorite Ute Moment: When his Huskies won four games ????

Joe is a Utah convert after moving to the state from Washington for his wife's residency program.   Although he bleeds Huskie purple, he is beginning to show an allegiance to Utah football by cursing the team down south, tailgating with the best of them (with the aid of a Corona), and purchasing season tickets.  Joe can also be found playing squash at the local squash courts (who knew we had some and yes he is under 60).

Family: Sarah and a big ass dog.

Favorite Current Ute: Anybody who played at East HS.

Favorite Ute Moment: Ratliff throwing the pass to Tip.

Jon is also a Utah convert after moving to the state from Washington for his wife’s residency program.  Nobody is really sure where he stands on favorite teams but it is safe to say that he could soon bleed Utah red.   He too despises the team down South.   He made his tailgating debut during the spring game in 06 which shows which way his heart is leaning.   During the summer, Jon can often be found at the coffee shop with newspaper in hand, after all he works for the school district.

Favorite Current Ute: Weddle, golfed with him the first summer out here and had no idea who he was.

Favorite Ute Moment: Tailgating at the 1st Annual Chili Cookoff.

Dave is another one of these out of state Utah converts hailing from the great state of Kansas following his wife to residency.   Dave was seen at the games last season often with a beer in one hand and a croquet mallet in the other.  He is the one with the neatly bi-weekly hair cut who we are counting on if there are any injuries from the high risk badminton, kroka, ping pong games…now that we are all getting up there in age.

Favorite Current Ute: Uhhhhh??!!!

Favorite Ute Moment: Listening to Landon talk about the past weekend's Ute victory.

Keith is a Utah convert from New Mexico.  Although he needs to work on his color schemes, he continues to tailgate like a true champion.   He shows up early and works his ass off putting together the ping pong table.   Keith is easy to spot…he usually has the giant raspberries from the latest mountain biking accident.
