Tailgate/Game Notes

The first tailgate of the season was a great success!  Estimated numbers put the total tailgaters at near 35+, thanks to everyone who came.  BBQ pulled pork sandwiches & grilled corn were on the menu and it must have been a hit because there was no leftovers.  Thanks to everyone who brought a side dish.  However, we need more folks to bring more side dishes (pasta salads, potato dishes etc.).  We had many folks join us early to take in some of the early day games (DirecTV) which we will have at every tailgate!  Thanks to the Juan Diego HS Lacrosse coaches & friends for lending us their power inverter when ours malfunctioned - you guys are welcome to join us anytime!!

The winners were: 1st - Josh Terry.  2nd - Mike & Bonnie Clark.  3rd - Brad Short.

The game started out slowly for the Utes as the Lumberjacks took an early 7-0 lead to end the first quarter.  However, the Utes decided that it was finally time to play some football and then went on to score 45 unanswered points in pretty much 2 quarters.  QB-Brett Ratliff threw for 299 yards and 3 TD's.  While the RB's ran for 213 combined yards and 3 rushing TD's.  A couple of unfortunate injuries occurred for the Utes as CB-Shawn Harper will be out 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist suffered after his interception return.  WR- Braden Godfrey suffered a severe ankle sprain and may be out a few weeks too.

This next week the Utes have in-state rival Utah State in Logan (6pm).  We are planning to be up there by noon (at the latest) for tailgating and hope everyone can make the trip up and join us.  We will be located in the Romney Stadium parking lot directly west of the stadium stands.  Remember, the grills are off 45 minutes prior to kickoff for cleanup/storage, so if you want food - get there early.
