Tailgate/Game Notes The fourth home game tailgate of the year was truly a success, even though the Ute game was not. An estimated 45 attended the tailgate on this beautiful fall afternoon. On the menu for the tailgate were Meatball subs (Tony Caputo's style) and Italian marinated grilled chicken. Brad Short surprised the group with a delicious homemade guacamole dip. Once again, the croquet proved to be a very popular game with 3-4 matches played during the tailgate. This turned out to be the final home game tailgate for Jake & Daisie Hunsaker as they will be relocating to Kansas City next week - WE'LL MISS YOU!. Alicia P. contributed a cake for the group for the occasion. With our early arrival (Chris Argyle included!) most of us took in some of the earlier college football games (Alabama vs Ole Miss, Mich St vs Ohio St., and USC vs ND) on the DirecTV/GamePlan setup. Three of us (Landon Clark, Rob Christensen, and Bryan Tippetts) will be making the trip to South Bend, IN this weekend for the BYU vs ND game. Yes, we know the Utes play at UNLV this week but we were offered access to attend a game in South Bend that we won't pass this up. If the Utes were in town, you can bet we would be as well. Look for a full report with pictures next week! The Aztecs vs Utes got out to a rocky start with the Aztecs taking the opening drive down the field capped off with a TD. The Utes countered with a drive of their own only to fail on a fourth down conversion, which the Aztecs turned into points to take a 14-0 lead early in the 1st quarter. The Utes offense never really got rolling as the Aztecs came away with the win and handed the Utes their third consecutive loss. As your tailgating committee, we have no plans to discontinue or scale back our tailgates just because the Utes are struggling and neither should you. Please try to make an effort to arrive early. As stated in previous reports, we will close up shop 1 hour before kickoff to allow everyone time to clean up and get down to the stadium in a timely manner. The badminton and croquet games are quite popular during our tailgates so please plan to arrive early to take in a full tailgate experience! |
