Tailgate/Game Notes

The first (and only thank goodness!) weekday tailgate of the year had it's ups and downs.  First off, we were accompanied by about an hour and a half rain storm that along with wind toppled our new "Ute" canopy.  This broke frame legs which rendered it to the dumpster despite anchoring it down beforehand.  Luckily, our "Ute" cover and "Utetailgaters.com" banner survived the collapse.  As for the ups, we were quite pleased with the tailgater turnout despite the weather conditions.  Thanks to everyone who showed up early and weathered the storm.  The beer can chicken & BBQ chicken were quite the hits as we actually ran out just as we began the cleanup.

This week's game was much different from the previous week's as the Utes got their second conference victory of the season to go 2-0 (conf.) and 4-2 (overall).  TCU was selected as pre-season favorites to win the conference and this was a must win for the Utes to keep their conference title hopes alive.  DB-Eric Weddle made the play of the year by stripping the ball from a TCU player just as he caught it and was tackled.  WR-Brent Casteel caught two TD passes including a 49 yard pass that was tipped by a TCU player only to fall into Casteel's hands in the end zone.  This week the Utes face Wyoming in Laramie (1pm - .mtn).  Our next tailgate is set for Saturday, October 28th (UNLV-2pm) where we'll be setup by 8am with breakfast once again for those brave enough to join us.
