After each tailgate week we will award one tailgater the prestigious "Tailgater of the Week" award.  The winner of this award is the tailgater who best exemplifies a true Ute tailgater.  This is a tailgater who arrives early, dressed in school colors, brings a tailgate food item, and mingles with the rest of the tailgaters.  We accept nominations up until the evening after the games.

Rob showed up early and had his homemade t-shirt ready for Landon.  Rob and Landon have a running competition with homemade t-shirts.  Congrats to Rob on his very first T-Gater of the week!

This was Oakley's first utetailgaters.com visit and believe it or not came away impressed.  We were so impressed with his early arrival and attitude he's earned his first award!

Pat arrived somewhat early but donned this unique rain gear rubbers (among other apparel this season) as well as manning the grill.  Thus, Pat clinches his first award!

This week's decision was the toughest yet, with many folks deserving.  After many hours of deliberation it was decided that Marty Heim clinches it by a popper!  He slaved for hours the previous night with this magnificent creation.  Homemade jalapeno poppers.  They had quite the kick to 'em and hopefully they make a repeat appearance! 

Diane was responsible for cooking up this week's 'Jambalaya'.  Her cooking expertise continues to display itself at least one tailgate each year.  Many thanks to both John & Diane for their help with this week's tailgate menu!

Joe's last tailgate earns him his 2nd career Tailgater of the week!  Joe was consistently early to tailgates and though he held out on his 'Baggo' game for 3 yrs we'll let that pass.  Joe thanks for everything and we'll be visiting Seattle here soon!

Joe arrived earlier than anyone and even helped unload trailer items. He even went out of his way to search for a much needed power inverter.  Joe epitomizes the true tailgater!

Landon withstood a 10 minute winter-like storm, mixed with marble sized hail and rain.  All the while trying to put up our U canopy with no cover to keep himself dry.

Troy showed up early (after working a graveyard shift!)  for breakfast and manned the griddle.  Annie shares honors 'cause she saved our tailgate spot from being burned down by pointing out a stray napkin on fire.

Blake braved the elements this day riding up on his motorcycle while heavy rain and high winds were the forecast.  Although, Blake wished to stay we encouraged him to get on his way before the weather was too bad.  This was the compromise.

This happened to be Jada Rose's first tailgate and let me tell you this was no small feat!  You see she endured weeks of hospital stays and surgeries including a liver transplant just 2 months ago.  She is certainly the toughest Ute we all know!  Keep it up Jada - your Utetailgaters.com family is pulling for you!

To be honest we are unsure why Nick deserves the honor this week.  We believe it had to do with him on the grill during breakfast but we are unsure.  Nonetheless, he probably deserves it somehow - we just don't know how???
