UCLA Bruins - 6

Utah Utes - 44

Tailgate/Game Notes

We anticipated a huge showing at this tailgate considering the #11 ranked Bruins of UCLA were in town.  Unfortunately, it appeared many had already jumped ship after the embarrassing loss with Air Force the week before.  Numbers were estimated at around 20 tops.  Nonetheless those that did arrive (some early) were treated to bbq pulled pork sandwiches, grilled corn, a green salad (Mike & Bonnie Clark), and taco dip (Jennifer Danker).

As for the game, well not much needs to be said after that old fashioned butt whoopin'!  The Utes scored on their first possession and took a 14-6 lead into halftime.  The second half was all Utes as they scored 30 unanswered points to upset the #11 Bruins.  QB-Tommy Grady threw for 246 yards and 3 TD's.  RB-Darrell Mack ran for 115 yards and 1 TD (2 TD rec).  The win however was a total team effort as the defense hounded Bruin quarterback Ben Olson into 3 INT's and 1 fumble.  Ute safety Robert Johnson got his first start of the year and he made the most of it recording 2 interceptions and a forced fumble that prevented a Bruin touchdown.  All in all it was a terrific day with a successful tailgate followed by an even more terrific game.  Enjoy the photos!
