Tailgate/Game Notes

The 2007 home tailgate season comes to an end this absolutely gorgeous fall Saturday.  The 3rd Annual Utetailgaters.com Chili Cook Off was scheduled with a total of 8 entries including 4 new entrants this year.  Among the early arrivals were Dave Oakley, Nate & Ashley, Russ, Christensen family (Rob/Angel/Britton/Charlie), and Joe Kulgren.  Joe brought his 'Baggo' game for the first time that for some reason he held out on the last 3 years of tailgating?!  Rob inflated their 'Bounce House' which seems to draw every child 8 yrs and younger within a mile radius.  Also, Rob unfortunately won the honor to fly his 'Y' flag on our flag pole due a bet with Landon (last time we let Landon make bets) regarding last years Y/U game which the Koogs won?!  We also were delighted to be visited by a former Ute basketball legend - Britton Johnsen and his family. 

The Chili Cook Off entrants were:

1) Dave Oakley - 'Oakley's All-American Chili' (endorsed by former Ute bballer Britton Johnsen)

2) Nate Friedman & Ashley Majoskey - 'Great Northern Chili'

3) Bryan Tippetts - 'Ute Touchdown Chili'

4) Jen - 'Taco Meat Chili'

5) Mike & Bonnie Clark - 'Clark's Cougar Meat Chili'

6) Max & Sue Madsen - 'Mad Dog Chili'

7) Landon & Erin Clark - 'Chicken Chili'

8) Allen Tippetts - 'Chili Verde'

The votes were counted and recounted by two unbiased judges and the results are in: 3rd Place - Dave Oakley, 2nd Place - Landon & Erin Clark, 1st Place - Bryan Tippetts (2nd consecutive year!)

Thanks to everyone who showed up at one time or another to a tailgate this season we hope to have everyone back next season!  We are looking to purchase a few new tailgate items going into next season to enhance our tailgates.  Also, there are plans for a complete redesign of this website so check back in the summer to see the new and improved Utetailgaters.com website!  Don't forget our Kickoff to Tailgating scheduled for mid August 2008 either.

Those of you going to the Utes vs Koogers game this next Saturday (Nov 24 - noon) we will be tailgating in the Marriott Center north parking lot beginning at 8am.  We will have 'Chicago Dogs & Brats' on tap for the menu and Chilton's Hot Chocolate so arrive early!!!
