Tailgate/Game Notes

The second tailgate of the year got off to a roaring start with some of us arriving by 11am, including two die-hard BYU fans (Rob Christensen and nephew Matt) who arrived earlier than many Ute fans.  One estimate put the total number of tailgaters at near 50 which is tremendous, thank you to all who made an effort to drop by the tailgate - you're more than welcome to join us anytime.  Troy & Andrea Chilton provided an RV trailer for those who wished to warm up from the cooler than usual sunny day.  Many participated in competitive croquet games in the early afternoon, with Rob C. and Blake T. both winning.  On the menu for the tailgate was pulled pork bbq sandwiches, grilled chicken, and grilled corn.  Table space was an issue as we were out of space for food items.  This will be rectified by the next tailgate to accommodate all food items.  Many thanks to those who brought a food item other than chips.  We will continue to place a "Food/Money Jar" which is used for the food budget on future tailgates.  We also will offer a "Red Cross - Hurricane Katrina Donation Jar", of which I will then pass on to the Red Cross on behalf of Utetailgaters.com (cash/checks payable to Bryan Tippetts).

One note to take effect next tailgate will be a definite "clean-up" time which will start exactly 1 hr prior to kickoff.  We've found that we spend so much time cleaning/storing everything up that we're lucky to arrive at the stadium by kickoff.  Therefore, we will begin the clean up one hour before game kickoff to ensure everyone is able to get to the game on time.  This may require some of you to arrive earlier than you have, but please make an effort to arrive early.  This makes your tailgate experience truly memorable.  Thank you to all who help in the clean up process.  Please don't hesitate to ask if there is something you can help with, I'm sure we can find something.

The "Battle of the Brothers" got off to a slow start with 0-0 score after the 1st quarter.  After a Ute fumble, the Aggies drove the field and came away with a touchdown and a 7-0 lead.  This didn't last too long as the Utes answered with a drive of their own and a QB-Brian Johnson 2 yard run.  After forcing an Aggie punt, the Utes found WR-John Madsen for another touchdown to take a 14-7 halftime lead.  After recovering a fumbled punt, the Utes put another short drive together capped with a RB-Quinton Ganther TD run.  Leading 21-7 early in the third quarter, the Utes were in command of the game until the final score of 31-7.  The Utes extend their winning streak to 18 consecutive wins!
